Lillian “Lil” Coxe Bryson, age 97, resident of Memphis, former resident of Fayette County and wife of the late Clifton Lightfoot Bryson, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday morning, August 17, 2017 at her home.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Bryson were conducted at 3 P.M. Friday, August 18, 2017 at the Somerville City Cemetery with Sandy Webb of the Church of the Holy Communion in Memphis officiating. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Bryson was born July 31, 1920 in Greenville, South Carolina, the daughter of William B. Coxe and Edna E. Coxe. She was a homemaker throughout her life and was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church in Memphis. Her greatest joy was her family, friends, reading, playing bridge and arranging flowers.

Mrs. Bryson was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton L. Bryson; her son, James Carney Bryson; her sister, Isabelle Coxe Cely; her brother, William B. Coxe, Jr.; and her two sisters-in-law, Mary Perrin Coxe and LeGrande Bryson Sullivan.

Mrs. Bryson is survived by three children, Kay Dease (Kenny) of Gainesville, GA, Clifton Miles Bryson (Beth) of Somerville, TN, Kristi Schaeffer (Joey) of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren, Alex Burnett, Bryson Kennedy (Matthew), Bailie Bryson, Zach Bryson (Christin), Rebecca Schaeffer, Miles Schaeffer; and her great-granddaughter, Miles Marie Bryson.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
