Alma "Jeannie" Day, a longtime resident of Somerville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, at the age of 79. Guided by an abundant and unwavering faith, Jeannie lived a life defined by deep devotion to her family, a joyful spirit, a love of music, and an infectious laugh. Her warm heart and steadfast grace will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Professionally, Jeannie dedicated 23 loyal years of service as the Office Supervisor for the Fayette County Health Department, where she worked hard to support her community. Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents, Odus and Charlene Ivy; her first husband of 48 years, Captain Tom Day, with whom she built a beautiful life; and her second husband of 8 years, Charlie Heffner of Coldwater, Mississippi. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Ivy of Dickson, Tennessee, and her sisters, Shirley Walls and Charlotte Ivy, both of Somerville, Tennessee.
Her legacy of love and resilient faith lives on through her family. She is survived by her daughter, Kate “Tonya” Day Shuppert (Jeremy); her son, Tommy Day (Heather); and her sister-in-law, Janis Ivy. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Josh, Caleb, and Abby Everett, Madison Cook (Nathan), and Hunter Day (Molly).
