Aubrey Lee Lemmon, age 85, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026. Aubrey was born on March 20, 1941 in Memphis, TN to Earl and Stella Lemmon. He was the youngest of 9 children.
He retired from City of Memphis Fire Department in 1988, after working 26 years. He then bought A & Market and ran it until 2004. Then he built Coyote Run Arena where he enjoyed 20 plus years riding horses, Having Winter Series, and horse camp and teaching children how to ride and horsemanship. He enjoyed spreading time with his family and gardening.
He leaves behind his daughters Terrye Canady of Oakland, TN Robin Payne (Lloyd) of Arlington, TN; his 6 grandchildren, Jerry Payne (Jessica), Brandy Kirkpatrick (Kyle), Jason Payne, Billy Canady (Brittany), Justin Payne, Jonathan Payne (Heather); and 14 great grandchildren, Kaleb Kirkpatrick(Lacey), Lexi Payne, Kaylee Payne, Kooper Kirkpatrick, Shelby Payne, Jackson Payne, Waylon Brogdon, Dixie Canady, Aubrey Payne, Rhett & Wyatt Payne, Saylor Payne, Hunter Zimmerman and Hayleigh Matthews; and two great great grandbabies on the way.
In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his son, Mickey Lemmon and son in law, Bill Canady.
Services for Mr. Lemmon will be on Friday afternoon, July 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Cary Vaughn officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 Thursday evening, July 16, 2026, at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland, with an additional visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday before the service. Interment will follow at Gratitude Cemetery in Arlington, TN.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jerry Payne, Jason Payne, Justin Payne, Jonathan Payne, Billy Canady and Kyle Kirkpatrick. Honorary pallbearers are Travis Childress, Louis Johnson and the CRA Drill Team.
A special thanks to his caregiver, Chelsea Vinson that took great care of him for the last year of his life.
