William Benjamin “Ben” Staton, age 45, resident of Counce, Tennessee, departed this life Monday evening, May 6, 2024 at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah, Tennessee.
Ben was born April 26, 1979 in Tupelo, Mississippi, the son of William C. Staton and Elizabeth Rosser. He attended Fayette Academy in Somerville until his junior year where he helped the football team go to the championship game. He graduated from St. Benedict High School in Memphis and helped his school to get to the football championship. He won an academic decathlon medal while in high school. Ben proudly served his country in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne and was an avid rock collector.
Ben is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Rosser and two sisters, Joy Myers and Mary Staton. He was preceded in death by his father, William C. Staton and his grandparents, John William and Joy Emerson Graham Rosser.
Funeral Services for Ben were held at 2 P.M. Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. David Reeves, pastor of Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville, officiating. Interment followed in Rehobeth Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Dade Graham, Colin Anderson, Justin Perkins, David Fleming. Colin Rosser and Jose Martinez. Honorary pallbearers were Derek Miller and Jeremy Carpenter.
