Listen to Obituary

Brenda Carver Jordan, age 75, resident of Williston, Tennessee and wife of James M. “Jimmy” Jordan, departed this life Wednesday morning, June 11, 2025 at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, Tennessee.

Brenda was born December 17, 1949 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of the late James Eldridge Carver and Geneva Lucille Gill Carver. She graduated from Southside High School in Memphis and then began working at Sears-Roebuck where she met James M. “Jimmy” Jordan. They were married in September of 1968 and she completed courses in cosmetology school to become a hairdresser. She had a shop in the back of their house where she welcomed all of her customers. Brenda was also employed at Somerville Bank & Trust and with Mark Ward in the Fayette County Property Assessor’s Office before her retirement.

Mrs. Jordan was a member of First Baptist Church of Somerville. She was very involved in her daughters and grandchildren’s lives, whether it was being a camp counselor, going on band trips, church, school or sporting events. Brenda enjoyed shopping, working in her flowerbeds, going on several “sister trips” along with their spouses and the friendships she made while playing with her Bunco group.

Mrs. Jordan is survived by her husband of almost 57 years, Jimmy Jordan of Williston, TN; two daughters, Dana Huey (Doug) of Germantown, TN and Shelley Jones (Mike) of Arlington, TN; three sisters, Bobbie Richardson (Eddie) of Cordova, TN, Linda McCauley (Ray) of Hernando, MS and Allene Little (Warren) of Olive Branch, MS; six grandchildren, Ellis Huey, Joey Huey, Addie Huey, Dustin Jones (Marylynne), Peyton Jones and Ashlyn Jones; two great-grandchildren, Cameron Jones and Scarlett Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Leigh McDonald and Norma Riggins.

A visitation for Mrs. Jordan will be from 12 noon until 2 P.M. Monday, June 16, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Somerville. Funeral Services will be at 2 P.M. Monday, June 16, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Somerville with Bro. Stan Smith, pastor of the church, officiating. Remarks will be given by Mrs. Jordan’s sister, Allene Little and Mrs. Jordan’s granddaughter, Ashlyn Jones. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery at Williston.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Mrs. Jordan’s grandchildren, Ellis Huey, Joey Huey, Dustin Jones, Peyton Jones and Cameron Jones, and Mrs. Jordan’s sons-in-law, Doug Huey and Mike Jones.
