Caroline Jane Bird

Caroline J. Bird, a resident of Eads, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, at Story Point of Cordova. She was 90 years old.

Caroline was born on December 10, 1935, in Wisconsin, to Harvey Semrow and Verna Pohl Semrow. She devoted 25 years of her life to educating children, finishing her career in the Shelby County School System.

Caroline was a woman of many joys. She loved swimming, cherished her church, and was a wonderful cook. Above all, she loved her family and treasured the time she spent with them.

She is survived by her husband, Michael James Bird; two daughters, Jennifer Bussenger (Rob) and Michele Kraus (Lee); two sons, Jim Bird (Lee) and Chris Bird (Cole); 11 grandchildren, Tessa Mitchell, Brigs Kraus, Jake Bussenger, Joe Bussenger, Josh Bussenger, John Bussenger, Lindsey Graham, Greg Bird, Arden Bird, Sems Bird, and Caroline Bird; and a host of great-grandchildren.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Betty Peltonen; and her grandson, Justin Kraus.

Services for Mrs. Bird will be held Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Peebles Funeral Home West Chapel near Oakland, Tennessee. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Jim Turrif officiating. Interment will follow at Fayette County Memorial Park.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Lee Kraus, Jim Bird, Rob Bussenger, Chris Bird, Sems Bird, and Greg Bird.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Alone Lutheran Church in Arlington, Tennessee.

Caroline will be deeply missed by her family, friends, former students, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
