Carolyn June "MeMe" Patillo, a resident of Whiteville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, July 19, 2026, surrounded by the comfort of her home and the love of her family. She was 83 years old.
Carolyn was born on April 15, 1943, to the late Junious Franklin Doyle and Elma Nay Cook Doyle. She attended Fayette County High School and married the love of her life, Larry Atwood Patillo, in May of 1961. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, hard work, and serving their community.
For many years, Carolyn was the co-owner of Patillo & Sons Grocery in Whiteville, where she enjoyed meeting customers who quickly became friends. Affectionately known as "MeMe," she will be remembered for her warm heart, caring spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Kimberly Dawn Patillo-Bettis (Frank) and Lori Allison Patillo; her sister, Judy Palmer Hibbit; her grandchildren, Levi Chase Lawson and Shatoya, Saylor Caroline Duncan; and her seven beloved great-grandchildren, Shamiah, Jordyn, Brooklynn, Gracelynn, Bella, Alexis, and Amariyah.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Atwood Patillo; her sisters, Shirley Inez Doyle Johnson and Barbara Ann Doyle Griffin; and her brother, Otis Doyle.
Services for Mrs. Patillo will be announced at a later date.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chase Lawson, Frank Bettis, Ronald Duncan, Ken Bowers, Charles Bowers, Kristofer Bowers, Nathan Hill, Tay Polk, and Terry Griffin.
Carolyn's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to her family and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
