Charles Edward Avent, age 79, resident of Moscow, Tennessee and husband of Nancy Lois Avent, departed this life Sunday morning, May 18, 2025 at his home.
Charles was born April 8, 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of the late Herman Eugene Avent and Mildred Mae Harris Avent. He was drafted into the United States Army and was an SP4 during the Vietnam War period. Following his service in the Army, he was employed as a truck driver for much of his life before his retirement.
Charles was married November 17, 1967 to Nancy Lois Wilburn Avent. He was a family man who loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who called him Paw-Paw. He enjoyed spending time at the Tennessee River, hunting and fishing.
Mr. Avent is survived by his wife, Nancy Lois Avent; his daughter, Sandra Wilkerson (Allen); his son, Keith Avent (Julie Montague); his sister, Peggy Vandiver; six grandchildren, Steven Wilkerson (Bobbie), Kayla Wilkerson, Caroline Avent, Colleen Avent, Heath Wilburn (Ashley) and Tabitha Rainey (Kevin); and seven great-grandchildren, Gage Cook Wilkerson, Scarlett Cook-Wilkerson, Daisy Wilburn, Newt Rainey, Austin Stanford, Zoey Stanford and Lilly Rainey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Wayne Avent, Gene Avent and Howard Avent.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Early Grove Methodist Church, 1085 Early Grove Road, Lamar, MS 38642.
