Charles J. Caldwell, 83, of Oakland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Charles was born on November 22, 1942, in Pontotoc, Mississippi, to the late Charles W. Caldwell and Lula Catherine Poe Caldwell. On February 4, 1995, he married the love of his life, Derry Britton Caldwell, with whom he shared many wonderful years.

Charles proudly served his community as a firefighter with the Memphis Fire Department, dedicating his career to protecting and helping others. He was a faithful member of Hickory Withe Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with old car clubs and fellow car enthusiasts. Above all else, Charles cherished his family, who were the center of his life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Derry Caldwell; two sons, Charles Dean Caldwell and Randall Caldwell (Susan); two stepsons, Paul Dodson and David Dodson; eight grandchildren, Clay, Carter, Logan, Ashton, Sophia, Penelope, Katie, and Sam; and two great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. Caldwell and Lula Catherine Poe Caldwell.

Charles will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his community, and the many friendships he formed throughout his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Services for Mr. Caldwell will be Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Hickory Withe Baptist Church at 11:30 A.M. A visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at Hickory Withe Baptist Church with interment at Fayette County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude or the Hickory Withe Baptist Church Building Fund.
