Craig Edward Andres, age 83, resident of Somerville, Tennessee, departed this life Wednesday morning October 9, 2025, at National Health Center in Somerville, Tennessee.
Craig was born April 5, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of the late Alvin and Evelyn Andres. Craig graduated from Archbishop Curley High School where he was a superior athlete, having a particular passion for football and baseball. Craig joined the Hialeah Fire Department in Florida in 1964. In 1981, he became the youngest District Fire Chief in Hialeah Fire Department’s history at that time. Retiring in 1985, he moved to Somerville, Tennessee and was a fire investigator for many insurance companies, serving as an expert witness in court cases. Craig also served as Jail Administrator in Fayette County for several years and was loved by many.
Throughout his life, Craig enjoyed traveling, midnight deep sea fishing with friends, tinkering in his man cave, and attending Ole Miss football games.
Mr. Andres is survived by his wife Leah Freeland Andres of 42 years, his children Paul Andres of Memphis and Ashley Andres of Jackson, Cheryl Fried of Hollywood, Florida, and Michele Cencebaugh of Daytona Beach, Florida. He had three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Kathie Andres of Hernando, Florida.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15that Peebles Funeral Home at 11:00 with service to follow at 12 p.m. Reverend Dr. Stephanie Patton of Oakland Presbyterian Church will be officiating. The family asks that any memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Humane Society.
