Dallin Floyd Baum

January 26, 2003 — September 2, 2023

Bartlett, Tennessee

Dallin Floyd Baum, age 20, of Bartlett, Tennessee, departed this life Saturday evening, September 2, 2023 en route to Regional One Health in Memphis, Tennessee after a motorcycle accident.

Dallin was born January 26, 2003 in Boise, Idaho, the son of Alan Floyd Baum and Catrina Goaslind Baum. From the time Dallin was a young boy, he loved the outdoors and animals and had a special love for reptiles. He most recently used that passion working at Sarasota Jungle Gardens while fulfilling a long-time dream of living in Florida.

Prior to living in Florida he worked in animal husbandry and education at the Memphis Zoo and could most often be found in the Herpetarium, hanging out at the Giraffe Deck or singing “All I Want for Christmas Is You” at the top of his lungs in the Education Building for his friends and fellow coworkers.

Dallin loved music. As a young child, he loved singing with his mom. In later years he could often be found playing his guitar and singing for and with friends and family. He put in a lot of work to become a masterful guitarist, even writing his own songs. Recording music for his channel was a favorite pastime and was genuinely enjoyed by all who listened.

Dallin had too many talents to list. He was a phenomenal photographer, writer, musician, mechanic, inventor, outdoorsman, survivalist and body builder, just to name a few. He loved cars and motorcycles and especially loved working on them with his Dad. When his dad wasn’t looking, he also loved taking them apart to make them better (aka louder) and loved more than almost anything, going fast. He was great at setting and meeting goals and spent a-lot of time serving and creating positive momentum for his life and in the lives of those around him. He never met a stranger, had a smile that could warm the coldest of hearts and would do just about anything to leave those around him better than he found them.

With all his talents and accomplishments, possibly the one he treasured most was his ability to lovingly harass his little sister and best friend, Sophie. He was proud to be her brother and spoke of her often.

Dallin is survived by his parents, Alan and Catrina Baum of Rexburg, ID; his sister, Sophia Baum of Rexburg, ID; his maternal grandparents, Gary Goaslind of Kaysville, UT and Carolyn Goaslind of Spokane, WA; his paternal grandparents, Floyd and Susan Baum of Lindon, UT; as well as many loving members of his birth family. He is also survived by several beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends across the country whose lives have been immeasurably blessed through their time with him.

Funeral Services for Dallin were held at 11 A.M. Saturday, September 9, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Collierville with President Ryan Dahl officiating. A graveside service and interment is in The Burton Cemetery in Rexburg, Idaho.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Micah Soper, Hayden Rice, Jahvon Wicks, Zac Smith, Jonathon Alpizar, Caleb Hall, Noah Davis and Bri Hawkins.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Wildlife Warriors, P.O. Box 11347, Eugene, OR 97440, Sarasota Jungle Gardens, 3701 Bay Shore Road, Sarasota, FL 34234 or Memphis Zoo, 2000 Prentiss Place, Memphis, TN 38112.
