David William Hansen

April 7, 1957 — February 9, 2024

Memphis

David William Hansen, 66, of Memphis passed away on February 9, 2024 at his home.

David was born in Millington to Billie Ann and Walt Hansen on April 7, 1957. He attended Fairley High School. David married his high school sweetheart, Shelia Moore, on April 29, 1978. He was a beloved Dad and Papa, attending dance recitals, pool parties, soccer games, and everything in between to share his pride and love of his family. He was a life-long learner and strove to teach and mentor those he could on topics from installing ceiling fans to changing brakes to hanging shelves to maintaining machine reactors.

David worked at AOC Resins for the last 24 years of his life and becoming a member of their Fire Brigade was one of the highlights of his career, allowing him to further apply his passion to help and mentor others. He cherished time spent tailgating and cheering on the Memphis Tigers Football team, traveling with his true love Shelia to see new sights and visit family, and spending time with family and friends wherever they gathered. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

David was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Walter and Glenn. He is survived by his wife, Shelia Hansen of Memphis, TN; his daughter, Tracey Russell (Wes) of Lakeland, TN; his aunt, Beverly Phelan of Atlanta, GA; his brother, Mark Hansen (Cheryl) of Kentucky; his sister, Connie Sandridge of Mississippi; his granddaughter, Hannah Russell; and his grandson and namesake, William Russell.

A memorial service will be held in early April to honor David’s life and allow the sharing of memories and stories to celebrate his memory.
