Listen to Obituary

Dennis Ray Eddington, a beloved father, husband, and pillar of his community, passed away on October 17, 2025, at his residence. He was born on April 8, 1952, in Knoxville, TN, to parents John R. Eddington and Shirley Nadine Lee Stevens. Dennis lived a life full of passion, service, and love, leaving behind an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Dennis was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served his country with honor during the Vietnam War and later in the National Guard. His military service greatly shaped his character, imbuing him with a sense of duty and integrity that he carried throughout his life. He was also a devoted member of Williston Baptist Church, where his faith and commitment to his community shone brightly.

Professionally, Dennis dedicated his life to being an airplane mechanic, a career that reflected his love for mechanics and the art of flight. His skills and knowledge were noteworthy, earning him respect and admiration from colleagues and friends alike.

In addition to his career, Dennis was a passionate supporter of Tennessee Football, often seen cheering for his team with enthusiasm. He cherished the simple joys of fishing, finding solace in nature, and embracing the moments that made life meaningful. Yet, perhaps the most cherished aspects of his life were his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Eddington of Williston, TN. Their marriage, which began on March 9, 1972, was a beautiful testament to love and partnership, inspiring those around them for decades. He is also survived by his daughters, Tammy Joyner (Richey) and April Smith (Randy), both of Somerville, TN, and his sons, Bobby Eddington of Williston, TN, and Eric Eddington (Loretta) of Savannah, TN. Each of his children was deeply loved, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and the lives they built.

Dennis had a special bond with his sister, Patricia Tims of Williston, TN, who remained an integral part of his life. A devoted grandfather, he was immensely proud of his grandchildren: Joel Garrison, Kayla Eddington (Ryan), Jacob Eddington, Tabitha Eddington, Nick Eddington, Autumn "Rooster" Eddington, Hayden Holter, Skylar Smith, Riley Cedell, Randy "Tuff" Smith, and Julius Smith. His legacy continues through them and the joy he found in his great-grandchildren, Mason Logan, Houston Logan, Elliott Logan, Holly Logan, and Kinsley Logan.

Dennis was predeceased by his parents and his bonus father, Lawrence Stevens. Their memory remains etched in the hearts of those who loved him, serving as a reminder of the values he held dear.

Dennis Ray Eddington will be remembered for his unwavering love for family, his commitment to his community, and his dedication to serving his country. His spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we reflect on his life, we celebrate a man who filled our hearts with warmth, laughter, and the profound understanding of what it means to be truly present for one another.
