Diane Crafton Moore

April 5, 1949 — October 18, 2007

DIANE CRAFTON MOORE, resident of the Laconia Community and wife of the late Richard Wayne Moore died Thursday morning, October 18, 2007 at her residence on Union Drive. She was 58 years of age and died unexpectedly.


Funeral services for Mrs. Moore were conducted at 10 A.M. Saturday, October 20th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Jim Debardeleben, Pastor of the Chambers Chapel United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Chambers Chapel Cemetery near Arlington. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-Main Chapel.


Mrs. Moore was born April 5, 1949 in Fayette County, the daughter of the late Hervey Leroy Crafton and the late Josephine Holden Crafton, early residents of the District 15 Community. She was educated in the Fayette County Public School system and was a graduate of the Fayette County High School in Somerville.


Mrs. Moore was married September 23, 1967 to Richard Wayne Moore, a former Shelby County Sheriff's Department Deputy and Fayette County Public Works employee before his death on September 7, 2000. She was of the Baptist Faith and was a lifelong resident of Fayette County.


Mrs. Moore was formerly employed by the Dow, Corning & Wright Company in Arlington for 16 years and at the time of her death was employed by Discount Cigarette Shop in Somerville on Hwy. 64.


Known for her quiet mannerisms and ever present smile, Mrs. Moore enjoyed art, painting and flower gardening. She was an outdoor person who found much pleasure in caring for her pets and serving as a caregiver for members of her family in earlier years.


Survivors of Mrs. Moore include her son, Gary Moore and granddaughter, Brittni Garrett, both of Somerville; a niece, Tammie Fike of Memphis and 2 nephews, Jerry Crafton of Mobile, AL and Steve Crafton of Somerville.


She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Crafton and Jimmy Crafton.


Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Jerry Crafton, Steve Crafton, Lee Smallwood, Mike Sprayberry, Bobby Sprayberry and Pat Fike.
