Listen to Obituary

Donald Blaydes Fletcher, lovingly known as “Bubba,” was born on January 24, 1941, to Earnest Fletcher and Stella Blaydes Fletcher. He peacefully departed this life on June 25, 2026.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Stella Fletcher, and his brother, Gene Fletcher.

He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 55 years, Lillie Ann German Fletcher; his son, Donald Thomas Fletcher (Karen); his daughter, Daphnie Fletcher of Oakland, Tennessee; five beloved grandchildren, Rebecca Landry (Sullivan), Hailey Hughes (Riley), Fletcher Greenleaf, Lauren Greenleaf, and Lillie Kate Greenleaf; and two treasured great-grandchildren, Lindi Ruth Landry and William Hardy Landry.

Donald was raised in Arlington, Tennessee, where he attended Bolton High School. As a senior, he earned All-District basketball honors. He later made Fayette County, Tennessee, his home for many years.

Following high school, Donald began a distinguished 35-year career with the University of Memphis, retiring as Director of Printing Services and Mail Services.

He was a faithful member of Antioch Church, where he was actively involved in the facilities ministry and the United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF). Bubba found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved boating on Pickwick Lake, traveling with family and friends, following sports, keeping his yard immaculate with his Kubota tractor, and faithfully meeting his dinner group each week. One of his favorite sayings was, “What’s for dinner?” Above all else, Donald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He taught those around him the importance of loving their country, helping others, and showing kindness because, as he often reminded his family, “You never know what others are going through”.

His legacy of faith, generosity, humility, and unconditional love will continue to live on through the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
