It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donna Marlene Escobar, a beloved sister and cherished friend, who left this life on September 2, 2026, at the age of 61. Donna was born on March 9, 1965, in Somerville, Tennessee, and was a lifelong resident of the community she called home.
Donna lived with Cri-du-chat syndrome, a rare genetic condition, from birth. Though she was non-verbal and faced challenges throughout her life, Donna communicated in her own way and brought a quiet joy to everyone who knew her. She had a gentle nature and a kind spirit that touched the hearts of her family and all who cared for her.
Donna found delight in simple pleasures — she loved playing with and bouncing balls and took special pride in her light-up shoes, which she wore with joy. Her happiness in these small moments was a source of comfort and light for her family.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Escobar, Sr. and Brooksie Neil Adair Escobar, her brother, David Cox, her grandparents, Doshie Ella Adair, Vodie Lee Adair, Celia Escobar and Esequel Escobar. She is survived by her brother, Roy Escobar, Jr. (Christy), and her sister, Nancy Escobar, who will carry her memory close to their hearts always.
A graveside service to honor Donna's life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Somerville City Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of her life and to share the memories that will forever bind them together.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Volunteers of America.
Arrangements are entrusted to Peebles Main Funeral Chapel, Somerville, Tennessee.
