Edna Gertrude "Penny" Schmitz

Edna Gertrude "Penny" Schmitz, age 85, of Somerville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, Tennessee.

Born to the late Presley Waddell Martin and Edna Lee Martin Riddick, Penny grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who found her greatest joy in spending time with her family.

Penny enjoyed dancing, watching classic westerns, wholesome television shows, and beloved old movies. She appreciated life's simple pleasures and treasured the memories she made with those she loved.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Walker (Martin); her son, Theodore "Tony" Schmitz; her sister, Rickie Dugan; her brother, Revell “Rusty” Riddick (Patricia); and her four grandchildren, Nickolas Walker, Matthew Walker, Annalee Walker, and Hadyn Wright.

In addition to her parents, Penny was preceded in death by multiple brothers and sisters.

Penny will be remembered for her love of family, her kind spirit, and the many happy moments she shared with those around her. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
