Evelyn Marie Paden, age 89, resident of Mason, Tennessee and wife of Jerry Brown Paden, departed this life Saturday afternoon, February 28, 2026 at her home in Mason, in the presence of her family.
Evelyn was born July 3, 1936 in Gallaway, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Claude Burrow and Mary Hopper Burrow. She attended school in Fayette County, Tennessee and worked in nursing homes and childcare until her retirement. She was married to Jerry Brown Paden in 1964 and was a member of Gallaway First Baptist Church. Evelyn enjoyed making ceramics, tending to her flower gardens, and visiting with her grandchildren and siblings. Later in life, Evelyn loved to watch The Voice television show and every Billy Ray Cyrus movie or television show.
Mrs. Paden is survived by sisters, Becky Spitzer, Nancy Curtis, and Linda Casey; her children, Donnie Newman of Walnut, Mississippi and Jerry Lee Paden (Sandra) of Mason, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Lucas Buck Paden, Jeanna Paden, Hannah Hiltner (Jacob), Rebecca Paden, Coston Dollar, and Eli Dollar (Nicole); and four great-grandsons, Logan Paden, Henry Hiltner, Owen Hiltner, and Clayton Hiltner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Faye Price, Mary Ruth Morris, Cornelia MacDonald; and six brothers, Aubrey Burrow, John Burrow, Billy Burrow, William Warren Burrow, Richard Burrow, and Charlie Burrow.
A visitation for Mrs. Paden will be from 1 P.M. until 2 P.M. Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Funeral Services will be at 2 P.M. Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Ronnie Grunewald, pastor of Gallaway First Baptist Church, officiating. Remarks will be given by Mrs. Paden’s son, Jerry Lee Paden. Interment will follow in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jerry L. Paden, Buck Paden, Coston Dollar, Eli Dollar, and Ronnie Grunewald. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Newman and Bull Knight.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Gallaway First Baptist Church, 377 Main Street, Gallaway, TN 38036.
