William Glen Sides, age 76, resident of Moscow, Tennessee and husband of Charlotte McCaskill Sides, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 after an intense battle with cancer. He is now and forever completely healed.
Glen was born on June 17, 1947 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of the late William “Bill” Sides and Geneva Sexton Sides. He graduated from Fayette County High School in Somerville and was the first Sides boy to graduate from high school. Glen was a lifelong resident of Moscow and some of his hobbies included cutting and selling firewood, raising and selling cows and bushhogging the pasture. He was a very hard worker and was employed as a gas technician for many years before his retirement. Glen would end most of his days sitting in front of the small local grocery store talking and socializing with people. He never met a stranger.
Most importantly, Glen loved Jesus Christ and could be described as a champion for Jesus. He loved sharing Jesus with anyone he came in contact with. He served on many Kairos prison ministry teams and several missionary teams. Attending church on Sunday was a priority for Glen and he was very bold in his faith. Second to Jesus, Glen loved his wife and his family.
Glen was married to Charlotte McCaskill Sides for 29 years. He was the big brother to Walter “Buck” Sides (Judy), James Ray Sides (Brenda), Barry Sides (Joyce) and Gloria Starrett (Dan). He was the father of four children, Dana Jones (Chris), Nathan Sides, Eddie Lovett (Eli) and Johnathan Hayes (Chrissy). He was the grandfather of five grandchildren, Brittney Little (Peter), Abby Jones, Cheyenne Jones, Everett Lovett and Juniper Lovett and the great-grandfather of three great-grandchildren, Nickolas Little, Noah Little and Nathan Little.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Nathan Wayne Sides.
Funeral Services for Mr. Sides were held at 1 P.M. Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Central Church with Matt Shackelford and Dustin May officiating. Interment followed in Friendship Cemetery at Moscow.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Central Church, 2005 East Winchester Road, Collierville, TN 38017.
