With heavy hearts, we announce the going home of Harold Wayne Craig, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and respected member of the community. Harold passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, at the age of 85.
Born on September 4, 1939, Harold built a life rooted in hard work, love, and service. He was the proud owner of Harold Craig Carpets, where he served his customers with integrity and care for many years. Known as a servant in his community, Harold’s generosity and dedication touched countless lives.
Harold is survived by his loving wife, Janice Craig, and their daughters, Tracy Shinault (Bryan) and Heather Thweatt (Sandy). He was a proud grandfather to Avery Shinault (Melanie), Payton Shinault, Brittany Hardy (Jack), and Hailey Bryant (Johnny Mack), and a joyful great-grandfather to Jackson Hardy and Ellis Bryant. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Sugar, who was always by his side waiting for her next treat.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Bryant (Fort Worth, TX) and brother, Gerald Craig (Lake City, AR), along with numerous beloved nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Dora Craig, his brother, Franklin Craig, and sisters, Betty Miller, Lois Pyron, Wanda Covey, Linda Hayes and Dorothy Craig.
A faithful member of Somerville Methodist Church, Harold served as Head Trustee for many years and was honored as the church’s Unsung Hero in 2010. He also served his country in both the Army National Guard and the United States Air Force and was a proud 32nd Degree Mason.
Harold especially cherished the time he spent taking his daughters to horse shows every weekend, proudly serving as their equine transport, groomer, and financier, and equally treasured the moments shared with his grandsons Avery and Payton doing lawn care and countless church projects—passing down not only practical skills but enduring values that will live on through them.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering love for his family, and the legacy of kindness he leaves behind. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Services to honor and celebrate Harold’s life will be held at Somerville Methodist Church (Somerville, TN) on Saturday, August 9, 2025. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Somerville Methodist Church in Harold’s memory.
