Homer Andy Daniels, Jr.

April 15, 1942 — November 4, 2007

HOMER ANDY DANIELS, JR. a resident of the Arlington Community and longtime employee of the Chrysler Corporation in Memphis died at 6:30 P.M. Sunday, November 4, 2007 at the Bolivar Community Hospital, where he was taken after becoming suddenly ill, while visiting his family farm near Saulsbury. He was 65 years of age.


Funeral services for Mr. Daniels were conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, November 7th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel on Hwy. 64 near Oakland with Rev. Don McCulley, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Dresden, TN, officiating. Interment followed in the Burrow Cemetery at Gallaway. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-West Chapel.


Mr. Daniels was born in the Gallaway Community on April 15, 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents Homer A. Daniels and Dolly Byars Daniels. He was educated in the Fayette County Public School system and was a graduate of the Fayette County High School in Somerville.


Mr. Daniels was employed by the Chrysler Corporation for 35 years before his retirement 3 years ago, and served as President of the United Auto Workers Union-Local #1086. He was of the Methodist Faith and a lifelong resident of Shelby, Fayette and Hardeman Counties. He enjoyed the Daniels Family Farm, caring for his cattle and donkeys, and his special pet, "Sam The Goat". A person who helped others and was a friend to many, Mr. Daniels will be remembered for his love of family and concern for fellow workers and those less fortunate.


He is survived by his wife, Jennie Kyle Daniels; his son, Homer A. Daniels, III; the mother of his son, Joy Griffin Daniels and a brother, Richard W. Daniels, all of Brunswick Community.


He was preceded in death by four sisters, Sis McCulley, Mary McKnight, Peggy Goodrum, Doris McCulley and a brother, Billy Daniels.


Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Jack Dempsey, Charlie Davis, Rick Hart, Randy Henson, Fennion Holmes and Fred Tyler.


Ricky Daniels served as honorary casketbearer.


The family request that Memorials be directed to either the Shelby or Fayette County Chapters of the American Heart Association.
