James Richard "Jimmy" Miles

June 5, 1952 — September 27, 2024

Bolivar, Tennessee

James “Jimmy” Richard Miles, 72, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 27th, 2024, surrounded by family who loved him dearly.

Born and raised in Fayette County, TN, his parents were the late Claudie Lee Miles and Vera Lois (Miles) Ashley and step-father Vernon Ashley, who helped to raise him after his father passed away at an early age. Additionally, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Bobby, Charles, and Claudie Jr. and his sisters: Ruby Lee, Zetta Mae, Helen, Betty, and Mildred and mother of his children: Janice Miles.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Margie. He also leaves behind his three beloved children, Christina Miles, Greg (Candie) Miles, and Lindsay (Jacob) Crowder. He will truly be missed by his grandchildren, all of whom he had a special connection with, Brittney High, Dalton Gray, Abbie Miles, Rylee Miles, Kaitlyn Crowder, Will Crowder, Gabe Crowder, and Ella Crowder. He also had a special bond with his step-granddaughter, Rosalee, and great grandson, DJ.

Jimmy has always been a hard worker and proud of the work he did. He was a very accomplished businessmen, with several successful businesses. He was well known for treating his employees like family. He especially looked at longtime employee, Dana Taylor, as part of the family.

He was known as “The Legend” because of the many obstacles he faced and overcame in his lifetime. He was a jack of all trades, never turn down a challenge, and give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, kind of guy. To be his friend was a true blessing. He had numerous friends that he cared for dearly, especially his best friend, Joe Dab. On the weekends you could usually find him and Joe Dab out working on his “project of that week” or just joy riding around.

He loved spending quality time with his grandchildren, from special breakfast dates, teaching them to play pool, and even Uno card games, which included him naming himself Uno Champ. He also loved going fishing, sitting around talking with friends, and playing pool.

He was a wonderful father, leader, and rock of his family. He did his best to pass on his values, knowledge, and compassion to his children.

He may no longer be here on this earth, as he is resting peacefully with his Savior, Jesus Christ, but his legacy will be carried on by the ones who loved him the most.
