James Franklin Singleton, age 78, resident of Oakland, Tennessee and husband of Patricia “Pat” Hassel Singleton, departed this life Tuesday evening, February 21, 2023 at SomerOak Senior Living in Somerville, Tennessee.
James was born March 20, 1944 in McNairy County, Tennessee, the son of the late Frank Singleton and Mauline Jamerson Singleton. He graduated from Adamsville High School. He started his career at Century Electric in Lexington, Tennessee and was a tool and die maker. He was a manufacturing engineer and plant manager at several Baldor Electric Company locations. He retired from Baldor Electric Company in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
James was a Free and Accepted Mason and a 50 year member of Cheap Valley Lodge #467 in Lexington, Tennessee. He was a previous lodge member at Lodge #155 in Charleston, Arkansas and a current member at Lodge #6 in Van Buren, Arkansas. James was a 32° Mason and Scottish Rite Master Craftsman. He was a member of the Al Chymia Shriners. He was also part of Red Cross of Constantine and Amrita Grotto of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Mr. Singleton is survived by his wife of 33½ years, Pat Singleton of Fort Smith, AR; his daughter, Suzanne Maher of Oakland, TN; his grandson, Mason Maher of Oakland, TN; two sisters, JoAnne Stewart of Cordova, TN and Linda Browning of Selmer, TN; and his beloved dog, Murphy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Singleton.
A gathering of family and friends of Mr. Singleton was from 2 to 4 P.M. Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Interment will be in Garden of Memories in Charleston, Arkansas at a later date.
