James Henry Tedford

JAMES HENRY TEDFORD, resident of Memphis, retired baker for the Kroger Co. and husband of Dorothy Tedford, died at 12:53 A.M. Thursday, May 8, 2008. He was 90 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral Services for Mr. Tedford were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, May 10th at the graveside with his son-in-law, Rev. Loyd Shelton, officiating. Interment followed in the Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery on Raleigh-LaGrange Road in Memphis. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home - West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Tedford was born February 26, 1918, in Mississippi, the son of the late Russell Tedford and the late Maude Bolden Tedford. He was educated in the public school system of Mississippi and was married to Dorothy Tucker, who survives.
Mr. Tedford was employed for a number of years as a baker for the Kroger Company in Memphis before his retirement twenty-five years ago. He had been a resident of the Memphis area for the past forty-five years and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Tedford is survived by three daughters, Dianne Shelton of Rossville, Rugenia Brasell of Cordova, Jackie Parker of Lakeland; a step-daughter, Barbara Jackson of Memphis; two sisters, Lila Mabry of Mississippi, Doris Tallant of Arkansas; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family request that memorials be directed to the charity of organization of the donor's choice.
