Jeffrey Allen German

Jeffrey Allen German, age 43, resident of Saulsbury, Tennessee, passed away at Bolivar General Hospital. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee, to Willie Louis German, Jr. and Lucinda Lee Burroughs German.

Jeff was a 2001 graduate of Fayette Academy. He continued his education at the University of Memphis, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communications in 2005. While attending the University of Memphis, he was a proud member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.

Jeff made his career in farming and spent many years working the land he loved. He was a lifelong outdoorsman who enjoyed duck hunting, nature, and simply being outside. He was also an avid fan of the University of Memphis and enjoyed attending U of M games, no matter the sport. One of his greatest joys was watching his boys participate in sports, especially baseball.

Jeff had a natural curiosity about the world around him and loved traveling, learning new things, and sharing what he had discovered with those around him. Family and friends could always count on Jeff to tell them about the latest documentary he had watched on the National Geographic Channel. Each July, he eagerly looked forward to Joyner’s Campground and its week-long traditional revival, a beloved tradition that has continued for 133 years.

Jeff was a member of Somerville Methodist Church, where he received his infant baptism and later joined the church through confirmation. His faith and his family were important parts of his life, but above all, Jeff cherished the time he spent with his loved ones, especially his two sons.

He is survived by his fiancé, Christy Merrill; his parents, Willie and Lucinda German; his two sons, John Bradley German and Thomas German; his brothers, Jeremy German and Jacob German (Kelsey); and his beloved niece and nephews, Chandler, Briggs, and Kimzey German.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willie German, Sr. and Evelyn Ozier German McClanahan, and Allen Burroughs and Lee Pledger Burroughs.

Funeral Services for Mr. German will be held at 12:00 noon Friday afternoon, August 21, 2026, at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Pastor Gregg Hauss will officiate. Burial will follow at Hood Cemetery in Somerville.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon Friday at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Clint Doyle, John Minor, Bradley Moore, Frank McKnight, Wesley Taylor, and Randle Whitmore. Honorary pallbearers will be David Fleming, Dade Graham, Joe Rawlings, and LTC J.B. Vaughan.
