John Emil Berra Jr., age 69, of Oakland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his residence on September 21, 2025.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, John was the beloved son of Betty Berra and the late John Berra Sr. He shared 38 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Susan Dugger Berra. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family.
John was the proud father of four children: Elizabeth (Matthew) Delling, Ashley (Preston) Russ, Nick (Mandy) Berra, and Michael (Madelyn) Berra. He was also a cherished grandfather to seven grandchildren: Erin, Alexis, Olivia, Sadie, Amelia, Declan, and Ava. His family was his greatest joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
He is also survived by his mother, Betty Berra; two sisters, Denise (Dale) Economon and Judy (Dennis) Bollasina; and two brothers, Paul (Mary) Berra and Tim Berra.
John was preceded in death by his father, John Berra Sr.
John lived a life full of energy, kindness, and passion. He loved playing and coaching soccer, flying airplanes, and spending time outdoors. Whether sitting by the pool or sharing stories with family and friends, John had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. He leaves behind countless family members and friends who will miss his warmth and spirit.
A visitation for Mr. Berra was Thursday, September 25th, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Services for Mr. Berra were Friday morning, September 26th, at 10 a.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Cordova, Tennessee. Interment followed at the Fayette County Memorial Park in Somerville, Tennessee. Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Nick Berra, Michael Berra, Paul Berra, Tim Berra, Timmy Berra, John Berra, Joe Dugger, Kenny Dugger, and Tim Angelbeck.
In honor of John’s life, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in honor of Declan Berra, an organization close to his heart.
