JOHN L. KOEHLER, resident of the Bethlehem Community near Moscow, formerly of Chicago, IL, husband of Marilyn A. Meyers Koehler, retired General Foreman for International Harvester after 34 years, died at 4:50 A.M. Friday, September 19, 2008 at the Crestview Retirement Center in Brownsville where he had resided for 2 months. He was 81 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Koehler were conducted at 11 A.M. Monday, September 22nd at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel on Highway 64 near Oakland with Father William Parham of the Catholic Church of Incarnation in Collierville, officiating. Interment followed in the Bethlehem Cemetery at Moscow. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Koehler was born March 6, 1927 in Chicago, IL, and was educated in the Chicago Public School System. He was married June 5, 1948 to the former Marilyn Meyers, a retired School Secretery, who survives.
Mr. Koehler was a member of the International Harvester Managerial Club. He was a member of the American Foundry Men's Association and also served as a certified Instructor at Hamilton High School. After his retirement in 1977, Mr. Koehler enjoyed the rural way of life at Moscow, where he found pleasure in caring for his cattle and hay farming. He was a member of the Catholic Church of the Incarnation in Collierville.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Koehler is survived by two daughters, Donna K. Fant of Collierville and Diane K. Jackson (Percey) of Brandon, FL; his son John A. Koehler (Patricia) of Moscow; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Kris Panny, Jason Koehler, Robert Stewart, Thomas Stewart, Brian Thurmond and Phillip Nooner.
