Joyce Ann Phillips Pepper, age 81, resident of Whiteville, Tennessee and wife of the late Jesse Pepper, departed this life Thursday evening, June 6, 2024 at Pine Meadows Healthcare in Bolivar, Tennessee.
Joyce was born June 24, 1942 in Somerville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Lee Phillips and Emma Ashmore Phillips. She was employed in the secretary of deeds office in Somerville for several years before her retirement. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Whiteville and loved her church family. Joyce loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed gardening.
Mrs. Pepper is survived by two sons, Danny Pepper and Randall Pepper (Starla); her brother, Lemuel Phillips (Dorothy); two grandchildren, Thomas Pepper and Ashley Watson (Daniel); and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Cannon and Edna Miles; two brothers, Carlton Phillips and Glynn Phillips; and her great-grandson, Matthew Watson.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Pepper were held at 12 noon Monday, June 10, 2024 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Interment followed in Mt. Moriah Cemetery at Whiteville.
