It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judy Lynne Smith, cherished wife, devoted teacher, and beloved friend, who departed this life peacefully on November 27, 2025, at the age of 74.
Born on September 11, 1951, in Somerville, TN, Judy was a beacon of joy and warmth to all who knew her. A graduate of Fayette County High School, Judy proudly received her Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1973, followed by her Master's degree from the University of Memphis. Her passion for teaching flourished during her tenure with the Hardeman County School System, where she dedicated many years to shaping young minds before retiring in 2012. Judy was also a proud sponsor of the award-winning BPA club at Hardeman County Schools, demonstrating her commitment to excellence in education.
Judy's love story began when she married Earl Smith on August 25, 1973, and together they enjoyed 52 wonderful years of marriage. Judy will be remembered as a joyful soul, an avid shopper, and a wonderful conversationalist, always willing to lend an ear to friends and family alike.
Judy is survived by her beloved husband, Earl Smith, who will miss her dearly, as well as her two sons, Adrian Earl Smith of Grand Junction, TN and Justin Waverly Smith (Kim) of Lagrange, TN; one sister, Patsy Rich (Gary) of Somerville, TN; and two grandchildren, Waverly Smith and Alena Smith of Lagrange, TN. She also leaves behind a beloved nephew, Barrett Rich (Rosemary) of Parsons, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents Vester Moss and Dorothy Smith Moss.
In keeping with her spirit and love for community, the family invites all who knew and loved Judy to join them in celebrating her life. Public viewing will take place at Peebles West Chapel on December 2, 2025, from 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Judy will then be laid to rest in a graveside service at Grand Junction Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Grand Junction Baptist Church, honoring Judy's profound love for her faith and community. Judy Lynne Smith, with her kind spirit and nurturing heart, will forever remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
