Leona Ray Taylor

Leona Ray Bobbitt Taylor, age 82, gained her angel wings and departed this life, Saturday, August 30, 2025, at her daughter’s home. Leona was a born November 22, 1942, in Macon, TN to the late William Ray Bobbitt and Lexie Leona Miller Bobbitt. She was a beloved Daughter, Mother, Sister, Nana, Aunt “Lona”, cousin, and a great friend to many. She was preceded in death by Don Elton Taylor, her husband for 62 years, and her son Kevin Taylor (Angela). 

Ms. Taylor is survived by her Sister, Shirley Wade (Boyce) and brothers Stanley Bobbitt (Vickie) and William Ray Bobbitt Jr. (Emily) and her Step Mother Maxine Bobbitt. Her daughter, Susan Payne (John); son, Elton Taylor (Paul) and five grandchildren, Nick Vance (Michale), Taylor Vance (Jenna), Matthew Vance (Jessica), Holly Taylor and Jacob Taylor; and seven great-grandchildren. She received her education from Fayette Co. High School. She came from a long line of hard working women! She always had to be doing something!

She was a lifelong member of Macon United Methodist Church. She was the pianist for 30 years. She played tennis in Collierville with her friends Shirley Stanford Wade and Pat Cornelius. She was an avid walker when we lived in Collierville growing up. She was always outside tending her flowers and cutting grass. She loved summer and we always were overflowing with vegetables. She was the best cook and passed this passion along to her kids and Grandsons! 

The Memorial Service will be held at Lifeline Baptist Church, 8740 Highway 193 Oakland, TN, 38060, on Saturday, September 13, 2025, @ 11AM. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be directed to Lifeline Baptist Church, 8740 TN-193 Oakland, TN 38060 or The Macon Cemetery c/o Brenda Paradise, 10565 Highway 193, Williston, TN 38076 , or the American Cancer Society, P.O.
