Martha Ann Duncan Henry

Martha Ann Duncan Henry, age 72, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and wife of the late Franklin “Gene” Henry, departed this life Sunday evening, May 26, 2024 at her home.

Martha was born June 11, 1951 in Brownsville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late George Odell Duncan and Lorene Davis Duncan. She received her education in the Fayette County School System and was married May 8, 1991 to Franklin “Gene” Henry who preceded her in death on December 15, 2004. Mrs. Henry was employed at Standard Construction for many years and following retirement, she began working at Security Signals in Oakland, where she retired.

Martha was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Laconia. She enjoyed cooking, baking and fishing for catfish. She loved the outdoors, riding her lawn mower and special times with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Henry is survived by her brother, Jimmy Duncan of Collierville, TN; two stepdaughters, Tabitha Brown (Carl) of Somerville, TN and Janie Culver of Dancyville, TN; two grandchildren, Frankie Brown and Nick Brown; seven great-grandchildren, Brian ryes, Ian Ryes, Jaylan Brown, Nicole Brown, Mia Brown, Lillie Hopkins and Cayla Stout; many nieces and nephews; her caretaker, Emily Crown; and her beloved doggies, “Misty” and “Precious”.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, George Edward Duncan and William Earl Duncan and her grandson, Bud Hopkins.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Henry were held at 1 P.M. Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. David Reeves, pastor of Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville, officiating. Interment followed in Liberty Cemetery at Laconia.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were William Duncan, James Henry Duncan, Matthew Voyles, Frankie Brown, Nick Brown and Tony Duncan. Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Hendrix, T.J. Anderson and Lynn Morris.
