Mary Esther Dittfurth

Mary Esther Barkley Dittfurth, resident of Somerville, Tennessee, departed this life on June 12, 2025 at Huntingdon Health & Rehab in Huntingdon, Tennessee.

Mary Esther was born on October 4, 1956 in Fayette County, Tennessee, the daughter of Len Martin Barkley and Martha Ruth Black Barkley. She graduated from Fayette Academy in 1974 and was employed at Walmart for over twenty years.

Mary Esther loved fishing and feeding birds. She was crazy about Pokemon Go. She was a true person of nature and met everyone with a smile and a story. She loved her grandchildren and taking care of them.

Mary Esther is survived by her two sons, Justin Cannon (Cassie) and Wes Cannon (Christi); two brothers, Martin Barkley and Mike (Deborah) Barkley; thirteen grandchildren, Elizabeth McKenzie, Olivia McKenzie, Codi Cannon, Brent Cannon, Alexis Cannon, Adeline Cannon, Bailey Cannon, Broly Cannon, Shelby Seals (Zack), Ali Cannon, Tori Kirk (JC), Aydyn Cannon, and Reece Cannon; and one great grandchild, Houston Kirk.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl “Red Baby” Cannon, Jr.; her second husband, James Dittfurth; her son, Lee Cannon; and her great-grandchild, Piper Seals.
