Mary Jane Herron

Mary Jane Tate Herron, age 62, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and wife of Daniel Herron, departed this life Saturday afternoon, May 18, 2024 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Mary was born November 17, 1961 in Hartford, Michigan, the daughter of the late James Davis Tate and Darlene Doris Dahlke Tate. She graduated from Hartford High School and was employed as an optometry technician. She was married December 31, 1981 to Daniel Herron. Mary was very proud of her American Indian heritage and belonged to the Poke’gnek Bode’wadmik (Pokagon Band of Potawatomi).

Mrs. Herron loved rescuing dogs and was an artistic person who made jewelry. She enjoyed gardening and listening to music. Mary always gave generously to those in need.

Mrs. Herron is survived by her husband of 42 years, Daniel Herron; her sister, Paula Tate Vanlandingham of Hartford, MI; her uncle, Morris Lewis “Uncle Junior”; her nieces and nephews, Michael, Melissa, Senica, Rachel, Amanda, Roxanne and Steven; her sisters-in-law, Wanda Herron and Pat Herron; her best friend, Mary Ellen (Pete Giunta); and her fur babies, Buddy, Butch, Tina, Jake and Jimmy D.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Leeann Tate and four brothers, Donnie Tate, Michael Tate, Patrick Tate and Steven Tate.
