Mary Ann Holden

Mary Ann Markle Holden, age 84, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and wife of William “Wayne” Holden, departed this life Saturday evening, May 3, 2025 at her home.

Mary was born June 16, 1940 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Milton Markle and Mary Lou Emma Sain Markle. She was employed as a dry-cleaning clerk before her retirement. Her hobbies including traveling in the RV, listening to live music, going to the casinos, playing scratch off lottery tickets, cooking out and shopping. She loved the outdoors, fresh flowers, maintaining her vegetable garden, but mostly being with her family and going on camping trips.

Mrs. Holden is survived by her husband of 70 years, William “Wayne” Holden; two daughters, Suzie Holden-Whitten and Sandra Holden Gunter; her son, John Wayne Holden; her sister-in-law, Joan Markle; three grandchildren, Jennifer Hamilton (Garrett), Johnny Mashburn and Shane Holden; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Allen Holden; her brother, Jimmy Markle; and her grandson, Brandon Mashburn.

The family will have a graveside service at Hood Cemetery in the Warren Community of Fayette County at a later date.
