Melbagene Portis "Jeanie" Moore, age 80, of Eads, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026 and is at home with her Lord and Savior, husband and family.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Jeanie was the daughter of the late Paul Freeman Portis, Sr. and Melba Grace Trotter Portis. She graduated from Treadwell High School in 1964 and attended the University of Tennessee at Martin, where she studied childhood education.

On November 9, 1968, she married the love of her life, William Joseph “Joe” Moore, Sr. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service. Jeanie was a devoted homemaker and co-owner of Parties & Moore for many years.

A faithful member of Hickory Withe Baptist Church, Jeanie was deeply committed to her Christian faith. She served for many years as a leader in Bible Study Fellowship at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Memphis and was known for her compassionate spirit, servant’s heart, and unwavering love for God. She found great joy in sharing her faith, leading others to Christ, and encouraging those around her through fellowship and service. Her kindness and willingness to help anyone in need left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

She cherished time spent with her family and friends and will be remembered for her warm heart, steadfast faith, and devotion to those she loved.

Jeanie is survived by her daughter, Tracy Moore Smith (J.B.); her son, William Joseph “Joey” Moore, Jr. (Linda); her sister, Anne Tomlinson; her brothers, Paul Freeman “Skip” Portis, Jr. (Tootsie) and Charlie Portis (Becky); four grandchildren, Josh Guinn, Zach Smith, Will Moore, and Sam Moore; and four great-grandchildren, Caden, Colson, Halle Jean, and Archie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Joseph “Joe” Moore, Sr.; her parents, Paul Freeman Portis, Sr. and Melba Grace Trotter Portis; and her grandson, Jay Smith.

Funeral services for Mrs. Moore will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Hickory Withe Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. and continuing until the service hour. Officiating will be Pastor Daniel Jerkins and speakers will be Skip Portis and Charlie Portis.

Interment will follow at Morrison Memorial Cemetery in Brighton, Tennessee.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Joey Moore, J.B. Smith, Will Moore, Sam Moore, Josh Guinn, and Zach Smith.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hickory Withe Baptist Church Fund.

Jeanie's legacy of faith, love, generosity, and service will continue to inspire her family and all who were blessed to know her.
