Michael John Horwitz, born on March 11, 1964, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on October 4, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength as a devoted husband and father. Graduating in 1982 from East Side High School in Butler, Indiana, Michael embarked on a journey filled with hard work and dedication.
He served his country proudly in the United States Marines for four years, exemplifying the values of commitment and resilience that defined his life. Throughout his career, Michael worked diligently in a foundry, melting iron, and to those who knew him, he was more than just an industrious worker. His joy for life was beautifully reflected in his interests; he was a dedicated fan of the LA Rams, loved to travel, and cherished every moment spent cooking for family and friends. He especially enjoyed gathering with loved ones, always ready to share stories and laughter around the dinner table. Michael's family was the center of his world. He married his beloved wife, Kitzie Horwitz, on June 21, 2003, a partnership marked by love and mutual support. Together, they nurtured a family filled with warmth and compassion.
He was the proud father of daughter Lexxie Blase and her husband Brad, and son Austin Horwitz and his wife Sally. Michael found joy in watching his family grow, and he cherished every moment they shared. He is also survived by his loving mother, Barbara Horwitz; two sisters, Carolyn Beavers and her husband Chris, and Bridget Horwitz; and brothers, Patrick Horwitz and his wife Jenny, Jeff Horwitz and his wife Connie, Michael Horwitz and Larry Horwitz and numerous nieces and nephews. Michael also leaves behind his beloved pets, Snow and Maggie. Each family member will carry treasured memories of him close to their hearts. Michael was preceded in death by his son, Nikolas Horwitz, and his father, Kenneth Horwitz.
