Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life reflected faith, strength, humility, and love. He lived as a servant to others, and his life was a testimony of perseverance, integrity, and compassion.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie Simmons; his daughter, Amie Benz (Tim); his son, Joshua Ivey Simmons (Sarah); his stepson, Jason Greenwood (Misti); and his stepdaughter, Parisa Carr (Louis); and his treasured grandchildren, Dalton, Davis, Alyssa, Ellanore, Isabel, Owen, Easton, Jackson and Lexi. He also leaves behind his precious great-granddaughter, Lola and his great-grandsons, Denley and Jack.
Mike is also survived by his siblings: Lindy Simmons Stewart (Wyndham), Roszella Simmons Blanton, Ivey Columbus Simmons, Jr. (Catherine), Penny Simmons Busbee (Buddy), and Tami Simmons Williams (Paul).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivey and Velma Simmons, and his beloved oldest son, Michael John Simmons, whom he now rejoins in eternal peace.
A visitation for Mr. Simmons will be from 12 noon until 2 pm Friday, March 13, 2026 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. A memorial service to honor his life will begin at 2 pm.
Though our hearts grieve, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Mike’s faith carried him through this life, and now he rests in the presence of his Savior. His legacy of love and faith will continue through generations, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
