Morris Glenn Dodd, Sr., age 89, resident of Oakland, Tennessee, entered the presence of the Lord on April 22, 2024.
Glenn was born October 28, 1934 in Trimble, Tennessee, at his mother's family home. His parents were the late Glenn Strachn Dodd and Gertrude Glasgow Dodd. He was a native of Memphis, Tennessee and graduated from Technical High School and Memphis State University where he majored in business administration and management. He served his country in the United States Navy Reserves.
Glenn's career was in the automotive industry. He started his career at Oakley Ford and then was employed by the Schilling Corporation. He went to Schilling to start up a leasing company and was then promoted to General Sales Manager. He continued his career at Tom Bell Chevrolet as the General Manager, part owner and Vice-President. He was also employed by John Ellis at Glenn Dodd Honda as their General Manager.
The last several years of his career he worked for City Leasing and then retired from Sears-Roebuck and Company after a few short years working in sales. Glenn was married January 19, 1979 to Elizabeth Dodd and had been a resident of Oakland since 1999. He was a member of Hickory Withe Baptist Church in Eads, Tennessee and was a storyteller who enjoyed fishing, golfing and gardening.
Mr. Dodd is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Dodd; three daughters, Diann Belote (Mike), Kelly Crawford (Chip) and Lisa Williamson (John); his son, Morris Glenn Dodd, Jr. (Marianne); his son-in-law, David Vollmer; his brother-in-law, Jim Kraft; nine grandchildren, Jessica Belote, Erin Meredith, Jeffrey Vollmer, Andrew Vollmer, Jennifer Dixon, Tommy Dodd, Will Crawford, Baylor Williamson and Harriet Williamson; and five great-grandchildren, Emma Jane Vollmer, Hannah Vollmer, Grayson Meredith, Weston Meredith and Cohen Jubirt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Vollmer and his sister, Jo Ann Kraft.
Memorial Services for Mr. Dodd were held at 2 P.M. Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Eddie Little officiating. A private family graveside service followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64.
