Born in Scotts Hill, Tennessee, Nancy was the daughter of Roy Leland and Isa Bell (Camper) Chumney. A 1960 graduate of Scotts Hill High School, she was a cheerleader and voted “Most Likeable”—a title that reflected lifelong friendships she deeply valued.
In 1963, she married Edward Adams, and together they shared 59 years of love, family, and devotion until his passing in 2022. Nancy found her greatest joy as a homemaker, mother, and grandmother, especially in caring for her grandchildren and creating lasting memories through food and fellowship.
Known for her warm personality and gift for conversation, Nancy was affectionately called “the interviewer” by loved ones. She was generous, spirited, and always in the know—sharing news of local events long before the internet made it easy. Her laugh, kindness, and love for family left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, Roy Chumney, Jr. She is survived by her children, Dewayne Adams (Anita) and Vickie Berry (Mark); grandchildren, Ethan Adams (Erin), Ashton Adams, Lindsay Berry, and Landon Berry; great-grandchildren, Jayce Langston and Weston Demond; and a large extended family who will forever cherish her memory.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 12, at 11:00 a.m. at Living Waters Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Scotts Hill, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Scotts Hill Pentecostal Cemetery.
