PAUL EDWARD "BILL" BROUGHTON, resident of the Gallaway Community, retired Auto Parts employee and United States Veteran died at 12:15 A.M. Sunday, October 14, 2007 at Gallaway Health Care Center. He was 75 years of age and died following a brief illness.


Funeral services for Mr. Broughton were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, October 17th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Artie Nute, retired Baptist Minister of the Keeling Community, officiating. Interment followed in the Walls Cemetery at Braden. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-West Chapel.


Mr. Broughton was a native of the Bethlehem/Hebron Community in Fayette County. He was born January 30, 1932 and was preceded in death by his parents, William Alexander Broughton and Polly Mae Williams Broughton. He was educated in the Fayette County Public School system and served in the United States Army in earlier years.


Mr. Broughton was a lifelong resident of Fayette County and was of the Baptist Faith. He served as a courier for the Napa Auto Parts in Collierville for a number of years before his retirement 10 years ago. He enjoyed fishing and outdoor activities as long as health permitted.


His survivors include daughter Debbie Burrows (Hunter) of Arlington; son Paul David Broughton (Michelle) of Mason; 7 grandchildren: Wesley Broughton, April Terry, Crystal Kennedy, Candice Pair, Tabitha Broughton, Julie Broughton, Allen Broughton and 5 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by a son, John William Broughton who died in 1997.


Casketbearers were family and friends.
