Peggy J. Davis Travis, age 76, resident of Eads, Tennessee and wife of Michael “Mike” Travis, departed this life Monday morning, March 15, 2021 at her home.
Peggy was born December 8, 1944 in Houlka, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Silas Dunbar Davis and Jessie Odell Buchannan Davis. She graduated from Ecru High School in Ecru, Mississippi and was married August 27, 1965 to Michael “Mike” Travis. She was employed as a mail order clerk for Sears-Roebuck for 35 years before her retirement and was a member of the Memphis Classic Chevy Club. Peggy loved her family, friends and coworkers and she always made you feel at home when you visited.
Mrs. Travis is survived by her husband, Mike Travis of Eads, TN; her brother, Ken Davis of Ecru, MS; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special niece who was also her caregiver, Kristina Murphy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Kathleen Kelly, Laverne Stafford, Faye Collums, Virginia Edwards and Marie Davis; and three brothers, Bobby Davis, Bill Davis and Jack Davis.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Travis were held at 1 P.M. Friday, March 19, 2021 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Thomas Foy, pastor of Kirk Baptist Church near Collierville, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Ricky Davis, Tracy Davis, Neal Davis, Gage Davis, Berry Marbry, Steve Sutton and Phil Sneed.
