Rickie Edward Green, age 71, of Oakland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, with his loving wife and daughter by his side.
Rickie was born on July 7, 1954, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Lillie Ruth Green and Thurman Green. He attended Germantown High School and later earned his GED. Rickie dedicated 32 years of service to the Memphis Area Transit Authority, where he worked as a supervisor until his retirement in 2010.
On July 7, 1984, he married the love of his life, Glenda Green, and together they shared 41 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and devotion to their family.
Rickie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his family. He is survived by his wife, Glenda Green; his children, Steven Green, Derek Green, and Tiffany Lee; and his beloved grandchildren, Kadence Lee, Cassidy Lee, Parker Lee, Hollie Green, and Nicholas Green.
He grew up in the Church of Christ and carried those values throughout his life. Rickie enjoyed fishing, watching football and basketball, and cheering on his favorite team, the Memphis Tigers. One of his greatest joys was supporting his grandchildren by attending their sporting events and school programs, always showing up with pride and love.
Rickie will be remembered for his dedication to his family and the kindness he showed to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie Ruth Green and Thurman Green.
The family asks that Rickie be remembered not for the way he died, but for the way he lived and the love he shared so freely with others.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Funeral Services will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2026 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with pastor Drew Murphy officiating. Interment will follow at Fayette County Memorial Park in Somerville, Tennessee.
