Robert Donald "Don" Hampton

Robert Donald “Don” Hampton, age 77, resident of Munford and husband of the late Dell W. Hampton, departed this life Saturday afternoon, October 15, 2016 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Covington, Tennessee.
Services of Remembrance with Military Honors for Mr. Hampton were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. A Private Family Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ashland, Mississippi. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Hampton was born July 15, 1939 in Huntingdon, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Humes High School in Memphis and was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Hampton served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the 82D Airborne Division. He was in sales for many years before his retirement and enjoyed playing golf, gardening and cooking.
Mr. Hampton is survived by his stepson, Stephen Phelps (Barbara) of Arkansas; his daughter-in-law, Robin Phelps-Huffman (Cole) of Atoka, TN; five grandchildren, Ronnie Phelps, Greg Phelps, Jr., Bobby Phelps, Christopher Phelps, Casey Phelps and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dell W. Hampton who died in 1999; his parents, Robert Hampton and Pauline Hampton; his stepson, Greg Phelps, Sr.; and his brother, Jerry Hampton.
