Ruth H. Wilson, age 86, of Somerville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on May 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania, Ruth was the daughter of the late Herman Mitchell and Elizabeth Hazel. She was married to her beloved husband and life partner, Albert J.T. Thompson, for 43 years until his passing.
Affectionately known as “Meme,” Ruth was a woman of deep faith who loved the Lord above all. She found great joy in Christian music and lived her life as a mentor to many, especially children, whom she loved dearly. Ruth enjoyed ceramics, gardening, crocheting, working crossword puzzles, and spending time outdoors. She also had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her cherished dog, “Little Bit.”
Ruth is survived by her children, Dorothy Williams, Mary Davis, Billie Michelle Watkins, Elizabeth Thompson, Leslie Barker, and Charles “Chuck” Barker; one grandchild, Steven Lynn Davis; seventeen brothers and sisters; and a host of beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including her special great-great-grandchild, Jocelynn Hazel, along with numerous extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded by her husband, Albert J.T. Thompson, her parents, one son; Charles “Chuck” Barker and one grandchild, Steven Lynn Davis.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Peebles Main Chapel in Somerville, Tennessee, with Leon Watkins officiating and Makayla Thompson speaking. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Somerville.
Pallbearers will be Marshall Major, Sr., Jonathan Walls, Brandon Lewis, Cole Spicer, Jonny Harris, and Christian Allen. Honorary pallbearers include Jakeb Namishia, Jason Watkins, Joey Cannon, Donya Williams, Antonio Williams, Craylon Freeman, Brenton Boeleke, Redford Thompson, and Austin Allen.
Ruth will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
