Sammie Ellen Slack May, 87, resident of Memphis and wife of the late Otis B. May, departed this life peacefully in her sleep on February 11, 2015 at the Rainbow Healthcare Center in Bartlett.
Mrs. May was born April 10, 1927 in Marietta, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis B. May, parents, Rufus and Vinnie Green Slack and 7 siblings, Sammie being the youngest. She found joy in homemaking, cooking, family gatherings and gardening. She loved spending time with her granddaughter, Bree Thompson.
Sammie is survived by her daughter, Teresa Tripp of Bartlett, son, Otis Michael May (Nancy) of Key West, FL, 4 grandchildren, Bree, Rebecca, Zachary and Ian, 2 great grandchildren, Isabella and Liam.
Memorial Services were conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, February 18th at the Mullins Station Baptist Church in Memphis. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Mullins Station Youth Fund, 1170 Mullins Station Road, Memphis, TN 38143.
