Teddy was born to James O. and Nanny B. Walls on December 1, 1933 in Somerville, TN. He was the 8th of 10 children. He attended school in Laconia, TN and attended church at Liberty Baptist and Mt. Carmel Cumberland Presbyterian his entire life.

He enlisted in the Infantry Branch of the United States Army on January 12, 1954 and was assigned to duty in Japan. Upon his return home, he continued his service with the U.S. Army Reserves and upon discharge, he supported his community by enlisting in the Tennessee National Guard. During his time of service in the military, he was awarded the TN National Guard Commendation Ribbon, the TN National Guard Service Ribbon, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the Overseas Service Ribbon. He retired after 21 years of service. Teddy also worked as a truck driver and for a period of time, he was employed as the fire watcher in the Laconia Fire Tower.

Teddy was a humble soul and will be deeply missed by friends and family, especially his nephew, Keith, who was his caretaker. He is survived by his son Larry Walls of Somerville.

A graveside service for Teddy will be at 1 on Tuesday afternoon, January 13, 2026, at the Old Union Cemetery (AKA Mt. Carmel) in Somerville, TN.
