Terry Wayne Hopper

April 4, 1963 — October 30, 2007

Terry Wayne Hopper, resident of the Oakland Community and Heating & Air Conditioning technician, died at 10 A.M. Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at the Methodist Hospital North in Memphis. He was 44 years of age and died of an apparent heart attack after becoming suddenly ill in his vehicle.

Funeral services for Mr. Hopper were conducted at 2 P. M. Saturday, November 3rd at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Keith Hayworth and  Rev. Rodney Vanwinkle officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County West Chapel of Oakland.

Mr. Hopper was born April 4, 1963 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of the former Shirley Ann Jones and the late James Edward Hopper. He was educated in the Shelby County Public School system and was married December 26, 1981 to the former Carolyn Rucks, a native of Texas, who survives.

Mr. Hopper was of the Baptist Faith and was employed in the heating and air conditioning industry for much of his life.  He had resided in Texas for a number of years before recently returning to Oakland. He will be remembered as a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather who loved his family.  He was a people person with an ever present smile and happy disposition. Mr. Hopper  enjoyed all kind of sports and was an avid Atlanta Falcons and University of Tennessee football fan.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hopper is survived by his daughter, Heather Michelle Duenas (Alfonso) of Auburn Hills, Michigan, his son, Terry Wayne Hopper, Jr. of Oakland, his mother, Shirley Ann Hopper and stepfather, Joe Terry of Oakland, his sister, Cathy Penna of Paducah, Kentucky, 2 brothers, Gary Hopper of Oakland, Michael Hopper of Hickory Valley, TN and three grandchildren, Caiden Alexander Duenas, Alfonso Ryan Duenas and Isabella Grace Duenas.

Casketbearers were James Michael Essary, John David Essary, Gary Hopper, Terry Hopper, Jr. Gary Rodruguez and Gerald Rucks.

The family request that memorials be directed to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
