Virgil Eugene Leatherwood, age 82, resident of Moscow, Tennessee and husband of Jeanette Leatherwood, departed this life Sunday, May 4, 2025.
Virgil was born January 15, 1943 in Moscow, the son of the late Bynum Leatherwood and Odell Cheek Leatherwood. He graduated from Fayette County High School in Somerville and Union University in Jackson. He was employed as a roofer, bus driver and truck driver before his retirement.
Virgil was married April 4, 1962 to Jeanette Skelton Leatherwood and was a member of Forty-Five Baptist Church in Moscow. He loved spending time with his family, riding his bicycle and exercising, but most of all, he loved reading the Bible and playing the dice game with his wife.
Mr. Leatherwood is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jeanette Leatherwood; two daughters, Teresa Leatherwood Lipford and Sherry Leatherwood Bishop; his son, Ben Leatherwood; four sisters, Bonnie Byrd, Edna Cryer, Judy Pepper and Debra Seals; his brother, Bill Leatherwood; eight grandchildren, Nickel Leatherwood, Josh Leatherwood, Justin Bishop, Tyler Bishop, Lijah Lipford, Rae Leatherwood, Presli Joubert and Wyatt Leatherwood; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Ruby Tacker, Georgia Walls, Mary Myers and Christine Tacker; and four brothers, Bud Leatherwood, John Leatherwood, Bynum Leatherwood, Jr. (June) and Jack Leatherwood.
Graveside Services for Mr. Leatherwood will be at 10 A.M. Monday, May 12, 2025 at Forty-Five Cemetery near Moscow with Bro. Wayne Hodge officiating.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Stevie Lipford, Jr., Josh Leatherwood, Tyler Bishop, Lijah Lipford, Rae Leatherwood and Wyatt Leatherwood. Honorary pallbearers will include Mike Harrison.
