Virginia Louise Solley

Virginia Louise Crutcher Solley, a resident of the Hickory Withe Community and retired restaurant owner in Arlington died Wednesday morning, September 12, 2007 at her residence on Shore Drive. She was 70 years of age and died unexpectedly.

Funeral services for Mrs. Solley were conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, September 14th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Bobby Bray, former Pastor of the Shady Grove Baptist Church in Somerville officiating. Interment followed in the Friendship Cemetery at Moscow. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-Main Chapel.

Mrs. Solley was a native of Fayette County. She was born May 8, 1937 and was preceded in death by her parents, Walter James Crutcher and Thelma Louise Davis Crutcher. She was a homemaker and before her retirement owned and operated the Arlington Drive-In Restaurant, a popular place for young people and local residents. Mrs. Solley was of the Baptist Faith and was a lifelong resident of Fayette and Shelby Counties. In later years she was associated with her daughter in operating a housecleaning service in the Arlington area. She enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and for many years looked forward to preparing Sunday meals for her large family.

She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Walter F. Solley.

Survivors of Mrs. Solley include her daughter, Brenda Marbry of Hickory Withe; five sons, Kenneth Solley (Tina) and Mike Solley (Brenda) of Stanton, David Solley (Anita) of Gallaway, Roger Solley (Loretta) of Mason and Karl Solley (Darlene) of Hickory Withe; two sisters, Frances Sartin of Covington and Patricia Wilson of Hornsby, TN.; four brothers, Charles Crutcher of Mason, Wayne Crutcher and Clyde Crutcher both of Whiteville and Ray Crutcher of Memphis; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers included Jerry Crum, Andy Simon, Timmy Crutcher, Brian Malone, Sammy Simpson and Shane Daniels.

The family requests that Memorials be directed to the Friendship Cemetery Association, 2065 Fortune Road, Moscow, TN, 38057.
