Listen to Obituary

William Earl “Bill” Canterbury, age 66, of Oakland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

Bill was born in Jackson, Mississippi, on September 29, 1959, to Crisler Canterbury and Diane Smith Canterbury. He was a longtime member of Hickory Withe Baptist Church and was known for his generous heart, love of family, and willingness to share his talents with others.

Bill loved college football, cars and attending car shows, and comic books. He especially enjoyed baking and was always happy to bake something for his family, friends, and members of the community. He spent 18 years working as a baker for Pillsbury, a career that reflected one of the things he loved most—creating something special to share with others.

Above all, Bill loved his family. His wife, children, and grandchildren were the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Sarah Carver Canterbury; two sons, Lance Canterbury (Jessica) and Chase Canterbury (Jenna); one brother, Buck Canterbury (Nancy); and his four grandchildren, Oliver, Matilda, Charlotte, and Holden, who brought him great joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Crisler and Diane Canterbury, and his sister, Lynn Davis.

Bill will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, humor, generosity, and love for his family will remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
